Well that was fun!
Got to try out a couple new brushes with this portrait, the Impasto brush is very hard to control, but I love the amount of texture I can squeeze out in every stroke… Once I got all the features set, I went back and just seen what type of effects each one did with varying results.
I just kept wanting to push this further and further. Even stopped a couple times only to open it back up and start playing on it again.
I began just using the mouse, keeping the canvas really tiny (25%), just working my way up to some solid values and creating the majority of the forms. I ended up switching to my bamboo tablet when I started using the Mixer Brush to smooth out all the tones, before I went too far along.
Bumped the canvas to 50% and went to work. It wasn’t until the last 30-40 mins that I was working at 100% and that was when I was adding all the extra colors and refining the little details.
It’s past my bedtime, but it’s so worth it.
Covered a good distance in today’s journey.
